About the Artist
I was born in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada and have lived in Port Elgin on the shores of Lake Huron for
close to 30 years. I have experienced creativity through classes and hobbies as
a potter, woodworker, webpage designer, photographer, instrumentalist (flute,
bagpipes, piano) and singer. {I took violin and drums for a year as well} When
I was very young, one of my earliest recollections and inspirations of art was
when my artistic Grandad was sitting with me drawing pictures for me.
After
retiring, as a medical secretary for many years, I have focused my interests on
being a painter and sketcher. After taking many art classes in many mediums it
wasn't long before I realized my true passion was to channel my creative
expression through oils which I create on canvas and wood.
I continue
with oils and a passion for abstract paintings along with mixed mediums. I also
attended life-drawing groups as well as a new interest in pastel
portraitures.
My artistic inspiration comes from my interest and
enjoyment, over the last 20 years, as an amateur astronomer and my love of
wooded landscapes that I encounter and touch through camping, canoeing and
hiking.
I hope you enjoy my interpretations of nature and are touched
in some way by my work by connecting with the feelings and senses it produces
within yourself.
