was accepted into the Juried Art Show:
"Imagining Ourselves: A Perspective
on the Lives of Women" for the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary
of
International Women's Day at Bruce County Museum, Southampton
2011
Aspects: Three gladiolus flowers representing women ~ all
beautiful, unique, resilient. They give the same general outward appearance in
physical form yet are all created with different backgrounds, techniques,
materials, visual angles and show a different perspective.
Women, like the
gladioli, are created embodying different cultures, exhibiting different skin
colour, respecting different values and following different spiritual paths.
Gladiolus flowers were part of my Grandma's 'old fashioned garden' as she
called it. She inspired me in many ways. I have an 'old fashioned garden' now
and the gladioli have become one of my favourite kinds of flowers.
