With a slight breeze brushing my cheek in the canoe, rounding a rocky bend, I fell in love with this leaning tree trying to make a bold statement
with its thining branches. I tried to capture the insecurity, the determination and growing strength that I felt was emanating from this form.

Trees along the lake's edge bent in the quiet breeze as clouds flew by.
It was a peaceful sunny day with the smell of lake water and algae in the air as dead branches accumulated along the bay's shoreline.
Painting this scene on location, sitting on a rock with the canoe tied up to a tree beside me,
was truly fun and inspiring on this picturesque lake.

It's not always fair when life behind us dances on. But knowing we're beautiful in characteristic features and in mind makes it all worthwhile.
My inspiration for this painting comes from my memory of my Grandma Taylor in her later years.
